Victims of circumstances they know nothing about (An IBMI-NGO Christmas Reach out)
December 14, 2025
“IBMI-NGO will never get tired of helping children who are victims of circumstances they know nothing about. Our hope is to make these children felt and seen by the mainstream and treat them visible. Because they, too, need unconditional and genuine love.”
You may be wondering the hows and whys these innocent children end up here. Yes, at their very young age.
Well, they, too, do not know.
The sad truth, in mainstream society they are invisible.
Barely remembered. Barely visited. Barely hugged.
Had it not been this Christmas, do you think they will be celebrated?
Your answer, your heart.
IBMI-NGO Reach out
On December 16, IBMI-NGO reached out to Tahanan ng Pagmamahal, an orphanage in Pasig City that inhouses 39 children ages 5-month old to 11 years old.
Upon entry at their sanctuary, we were welcomed by the innocent cheers and warm greetings of the little beautiful souls excited for the warm embrace and validation a child could ever ask for.
As we engage along you can sense their sincere laughs. Such pure hearts despite the fact they do not know what lies ahead.
They just live the moment gratefully day by day even though they do not know what brought them here at “Tahanan.”
This scenario is not stranger to IBMI-NGO. In the past, we have been engaging with the orphans reaching out. Living our core values compassion, empowerment and action.
Seeing the situation and how the children grow older in Tahanan, IBMI-NGO advocate and volunteer Ben BITAG, emphasized that Christmas is about remembering the needy. He also pledged to always support the orphanage.
“Christmas is about giving and remembering tulad ng mga anak nating ito. “Alam namin ang pakiramdam ng batang walang magulang. Kaya anuman ang mga susunod ninyong hakbang, we will make sure to always keep you in mind,” Ben BITAG Tulfo assures.
Distributed during the reach out are 50 canvas of 50-kg rice, breads and meal packs. While our NGO partner One Sky Foundation represented by Rita Buensalido also gave away 100 hygiene kits to the toddlers.
“Maraming salamat po sa pagkakataong ibinigay ninyo sa amin na makita, makilala at makasalamuha ang mga batang ito — mga maliliit na kapatid o mga anak natin kung ituring. Kaisa kami sa adbokasiya ng Tahanan ng Pagmamahal,” IBMI-NGO Executive Director Apple Meneses.
Along with IBMI-NGO and Sky Foundation is BMUI, our media partner. It was spearheaded by its Vice President for External and Legal Affairs, Charm Mateo.
Bawat bata po dito ay may naka-assign na house parent. These are licensed caregivers. We also inhouse registered nurses. Maraming salamat po sa mga tulong at donasyon ninyo sa Tahanan ng Pagmamahal,” says Valdez.
Valdez explained, there are four categories of children’s cases they accept as orphans. Abandoned and neglected by parents; surrendered by relatives or parents, children with no known parents and trafficked children.
Before the program ended, we were serenaded by the children with their prepared song “Star ng Pasko.”
Babies Room
Aside from the toddles, we were toured around by ED Valdez at the Babies room at the Tahanan ng Pagmamahal.
Still in their cribs and still learning to walk, they are being taken care of by the house parents, all licensed caregivers. There are also registered nurses monitoring the children in the orphanage.
IBMI-NGO Pledge to Tahanan
True to its commitment and advocacy, IBMI Advocate volunteer Ben BITAG Tulfo pledged P50,000 monthly financial support to the orphanage to further their causes.
